The John of God cycle at The Casa (Wednesday – Friday) is done, and we are into a new rhythm; Abadiania becomes ‘another’ place Saturday – Tuesday. Everything slows to sleepy pace as the visitors to The Casa leave for home, and those of us remaining relax into the easy-going lifestyle of a small town. It’s fun to watch the interactions of people who stay here for extended periods show up in the town after the ‘crowds’ leave to mingle and socialize.
The high point upon which our day revolves is our trip to the Waterfall. Today, the trees and plants are blossoming after the rainfall we got, and we hiked surrounded by vibrant Life. Literally, I felt the air hum.
How can I describe the Waterfall? First of all, no picture taking and no recording is allowed so all we have is words… The Waterfall is down and then down some more. Winding through Brazilian wildlife, birds singing, and butterflies winging about, the hike is steep. We can hear the Falls thunder in the distance There are heavy wire cords strung for hand holds for which I am most appreciative.
And then there is a gate. If the gate is open, we advance. If it is closed, we wait in silence until the people who are at the Waterfall return and open the gate for us. Then we descend – steeply – even further. Until we pass over a creek and approach the gushing waters that pour over the cliff and into the flowing water. It’s a very strong current. And a very cold one. /alan likes to stick his entire head under the falling waters; I am more tentative, placing whichever part of my body I feel ‘guided’ to immerse.
Three minutes in the current per person done in a prayerful manner is the requested protocol. And then the hike back up… which is much easier after an invigorating cold splash:P And always a great prelude to a happy nappy.
happy day 🙂
oh boy, I can’t wait to hike to the waterfall! It should be warmer in December I think, so the cold water will feel REALLY good.
You will need to get permission from the Entities first… but I’m sure you will. Marion, when you get here I think you are going to say, “I found home.”
