Day Two, A Blessing Shared–John of God

soul awakening, spiritual consciousnessI underwent my first spiritual surgery of this  trip yesterday afternoon.  One would think (Well, at least I would) that I could expect a certain pattern to the spiritual surgeries after ten of them.  It wasn’t a surprise when the Casa volunteer invited people from the 2nd time line to volunteer for a spiritual surgery.  Certainly, we’ve seen that happen a few times before this.  Alan and I considered and decided that, since it was our first day back to see John of God after a year’s absence, we wanted to go before Medium Joao and the entity to received a more specific direction.  What was unusual for me was that–right after we opted to wait–I felt the presence of an entity touch my mind.

“What does that feel like?” you may wonder.  It feels like love.  Conscious and aware and gentle like a soft breeze.  Some say they can tell which entity is which and know who is engaging them.  Not me.  I don’t mind, though.  Love is love is love, right?

I felt the touch, and I heard, “Would you like my support?  I can help you.”

“Yes!” My response was immediate and whole-hearted.

And then it began.  In retrospect, my spiritual surgery experience started right there and then in the front hall/meeting room. Continue reading “Day Two, A Blessing Shared–John of God”

The Art of Fulfillment – A Principle of Awakening

dreams and wishes, awakeningA dream is a wish your heart makes.

Cinderella

Everyone I know has dreams and wishes their dreams would be fulfilled.  No exceptions in my experience.  Even followers of Buddha and other spiritual teachings that propose detachment is the definition of enlightenment have dreams – they wish for detachment from desire.  Desire is the driving force of Life.  The very breath all life takes is fueled by the desire to live.

I have a dream!

Martin Luther King

That’s as “meta” as it gets — almost. Let’s take it one step further:  What if all of us have a core dream — a desire so deeply embedded in the essence of who we are that it accompanies us from the nonphysical realm through birth and into physical reality?  What if the purpose of this life-long desire has a purpose — the purpose of awakening us from the dream that the physical world is all there is? Threading The Mantra Needle – Awakening the Avatar

awakeing, avatar, spiritual consciousness, soul, awakeningWrite your epitaph now – it’s how you will be remembered.

Think about it.  When asked what mantra shapes our lives most of us will pick a pithy phrase that depicts our conscious perception of who we aim to be.  “It’s all good.”  “Let go and let God.”  “One day at a time.”  “I have faith.”  “Where there is a will, there is a way.”  “Love is the answer.” I could list a page of them and wouldn’t even scratch the surface – I didn’t come near the breadth and scope of possible attitudes toward which most of us aspire.

Truth be told, though, it isn’t the conscious mantra that shapes us.  It is the habitual practice of thoughts and feeling that run like a river through our minds in response to the circumstances and events of our lives that makes a lasting imprint on how we evolve.  I wish I could say my response to Life was always optimistic.  I wish I could say I didn’t get irritated or anxious or dwell on situations and relationships that evoke irritation or anxiety.  I wish the feelings and thoughts that shaped the weft and weave of who I am would always match the mantra toward which I aim.  I can’t.  But I can say that it is always my choice which color thread I use to thread the needle. Vibrating the Vibration Into The Awakening Avatar

vibrate, vibration, avatar, awakeningWhen you look across a field to a stand of trees, do you see a shimmer in the air around their edges?  When you touch a living thing, do you feel a tingle in the space between where your ‘skins’ meet?  When you are listening to music, does the sound move through your body in a way that makes your body move?  This is the law of resonance in action. The law of resonance says that all vibration includes the  quality of evoking response.

But, wait…let’s go back.  Back to where it begins: vibrating.

If we start to consider what vibrates — and, therefore, has the capacity to evoke resonance — we would find the list infinitely huge.  It might be easier, rather, to ask: “What doesn’t vibrate?”  The answer is far more simple: nothing.  Everything vibrates. If My Body Is The Temple – Awakening the Avatar

awakening, avatar, worshipIf my body is the temple, then what/who am “I”?

For all of my childhood, and much of my adulthood, I believed my body and “me” were one and the same thing.  My self esteem relied heavily on the feedback I got from people around me about how attractive I looked.  My feelings of success depended upon what I could “do” through the actions of my body.  I engaged with everyone I met as discrete units, separated from me by the fact that we had different bodies.  And, in turn, I judged the value of others by how I perceived their bodies.

Sound familiar?  I believe it was the favored perspective of most everyone I knew. Continue reading “If My Body Is The Temple – Awakening the Avatar”

Consumed By The Dragon – Awakening

Itransformation, awakening dreamed.  I dreamed I was eaten by a dragon.

In the dream, I felt no fear – no trepidation of jagged teeth or painful death.  Only curiosity.  The dragon was HUGE, her head the size of a small house, her body could have been an apartment complex.  When she lowered her snout to the ground and opened her maw wide, I felt the heat and smelled the sulphur exuding with her breath.

It was a dream, though, and I was only more curious.  I stepped tentatively into the cavern that was her mouth.  I felt the soft give of her tongue under my feet… and watched myself dissolve — body vaporized into billions of tiny fragments.  Still conscious, yet nowhere could I find me.

Dreaming.  Dreaming in a deep, dark landscape filled with sparkling lights, I felt the beating heart of the dragon pulsing me through her body.  I sensed an immense mind – like a sky with no end – and touched it, joining in the dream with a vast intelligence that stretched my awareness to new perspectives I would never have considered within the mind of my own species.  Perspectives I could barely comprehend. Perspectives that turned me inside out of the nowhere I could find me.

Timeless in a dream that may have been a brief moment or eternal forever, consciousness released the “I” as all the particles of what was “me” flowed into ‘we-ness’ with her…

Until she pooped me out.  She pooped me out.  I was dreaming, right?  And there “I” stood again.  No longer the “me” who had been consumed – I was newly configured; somehow reshaped and blended anew with traces of Dragon vibrating through my being.  Transformed into dragon poop.

I dreamed.

And now, I wonder… what is dreaming?  And…when am I awake?  Is this Awakening? Continue reading “Consumed By The Dragon – Awakening”

The Paradox of Trust – Awakening

awakening, transformation, individuationA recipe for transformation without trust as one of the ingredients is doomed in much the same way a recipe for fluffy pancakes without baking powder as an ingredient is bound for failure.  Baking powder is necessary for the chemical reaction that infuses the batter with fluffifying air bubbles.  In a similar manner, trust must be present for the alchemy of transformation to ignite.

If only trust were as easy to procure as a box of baking soda, right?  If only we understood the components of trust well enough to produce it at whim and infuse our experience with trust as easily as we mix baking powder into a batter – trust in the Will to Good, trust in our innate ability to listen inwardly and make effective decisions, trust in the desired outcomes we are not yet able to see in the world around us. Sharing Shame Away – Awakening

awakeningIt’s a residual grime – Shame.  Sticky and heavy like a combination of quicksand and tar, laying like a film over our memories and experiences.  I have yet to meet anyone who doesn’t know what I’m talking about, though I have come across many who pretend they bear no burden of shame.

And I know they do.  We all do.  Every one of us — at some point — knows the experience of feeling bad about something we’ve done or some aspect of how we look or who we are.  It may be a slight embarrassment about a pimple or a regret for having spoken harshly in a moment of distress.  It could be a habit or an inability to follow through on intentions or goals.  No matter how small or insignificant in the moment, it is shame… and it accumulates in the psyche. Visceral Faith – A New Awakening

John of God, healing, spirtual surgery, healingWhen I went, recently, to Casa Dom Inacio to open myself deeper and wider to currents of awakening.  I asked, in my first audience with Medium Joao, for a blending of my personality with my soul. (see: Day 3 Is A Spiritual Surgery Day)  While I wasn’t sure what that would mean or look like in day-to-day living…  I mean, how would I “know” what to expect?… it just felt right to request it at this point in my evolution.

Now — in hindsight — it is clear to me just how the request was answered.  Let me describe it as one of the stories of my life… Continue reading “Visceral Faith – A New Awakening”

John of God Trip 5 – Second Spiritual Surgery

Spiritual awakening, John of GodI arrived to the meeting room at the Casa with my questions for John of God in hand, quiet in my mind and prepared to relax into the Casa flow until my line was called.  The first Casa day in 2013.  The first surprise came when the Casa volunteer called for people scheduled for spiritual surgery…  and no one came.

Then there was a long wait — for about an hour — before another line was called.  The people continued to meditate in the current rooms, and one of the volunteers continued to give his inspirational talk.  Just no lines called… Continue reading “John of God Trip 5 – Second Spiritual Surgery”
