I love the rhythms of Nature. The pattern of the seasons marks for me the revolution of time and the evolution of Spirit. The Equinoxes and Solstices give me reason to rejoice. Reason to celebrate. Reason for prayers of appreciation. Reason to reflect.
The Winter Solstice, especially, speaks to me of Faith and community. For many years, I gathered with a group of friends on Winter Solstice to honor the longest night. We had no light save the fire in the fire pit. We brought our drums and our voices and we danced and sang from sunset to sunrise. We celebrated our ability to live in faith that the sun would return again. That trees would flower and bear fruit again. That Life would abound – again – in new births.
To have a full moon on the Winter Solstice is one of the rhythms of Nature; it happens on occasion. It’s happening now. For me, though, there is metaphor in this. The light of the moon is the sun reflected, shining through the darkest night as if to say, “All is well. Light is present in the dark. Be illuminated.
Be Illuminated. Awaken to the Greater Pattern. Stand fully aware and expand.”
On a full moon Solstice, there is opportunity to ride the vibration of moonlight into the consciousness of creation. The first step of awakening from the dream is remembering conscious creation; we are the dreamers dreaming the dreams.
The pattern of our lives is a process of desires, experiences, interpretations, and beliefs. Desire drives the dreamer to dream. To live is to experience. Consciousness is the mirror that reflects the perceptual shadings of interpretation. A flexible interpretation opens belief to new possibilities. Faith is the bridge that catalyzes beliefs to expand towards the fulfillment of desires. Like a circle of seasons, the rhythm of the dreamer dreams the dream and awakens to the power of dreaming.
On a full moon Solstice, when the darkest night is full of Light, the opportunity to awaken as the conscious creator of the dream is fully available. And the choice is now.
